Green Street Church Cares
(aka Hastings First UMC)
The Hastings Food Pantry
The Hastings Food Pantry serves referrals from Barry County Cares (formerly Love INC). On average, Hastings Food Pantry serves about 70 households a month providing 3 to 5 days worth of nutritional food. We are considered a ‘Client Choice Pantry’ which means that families are able to visit the food pantry and choose the food their family enjoys.
There are several ways to donate to Hastings Food Pantry; either financially or by food donation. To help financially, money may be donated to Hastings First UMC – Hastings Food Pantry fund. These funds allow Hastings Food Pantry to purchase food items from the South Central Food Bank at 18 cents per pound. If you would like to donate directly to Hastings Food Bank, located in the lower level of Hastings First UMC, you may drop off or send your check to Hastings First UMC c/o Hastings Food Pantry. Food donations may be dropped off at Hastings First UMC, 209 W. Green Street in Hastings during regular business hours. The church office is open Monday thru Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon and closed on holidays.
If you have questions or need more information about how you can help or to make a donation, please contact Marcia Szumowski @ 269.948.2169 or via email @ firstname.lastname@example.org or Barry County Cares @ 269.948.9555.
The Community Meal
Since 2007 the Community Meal (formerly Soup Kitchen) has offered a free hot meal and fellowship to residents in and around the Hastings community. The desire has always been to make sure folks had at least one free hot meal once a week and an opportunity to fellowship. Please join us on Tuesdays from 5 to 6 pm. All are welcome. (Demonstrated need is not necessary.)
